Preparing Your Vehicle for Fall with Sewell Toyota

As fall approaches, there are a lot of things to get excited about. From cooler weather to fall-themed treats, it is easy to see why so many people are so excited for the new season. With all of this excitement, preparing your car for the changing weather can be overlooked. Sewell Toyota wants to help you make sure your vehicle is as ready for fall as you are, which is why we have put together a list to help you keep your vehicle operating at its best.

There are a number of areas drivers should be aware of and check out as you prepare your vehicle for the upcoming change in season. In addition to ensuring that your regular maintenance such as oil changes are taken care of, there are a few other items that might go overlooked. Some key areas to keep an eye on as we head into this new season are:

  1. Check lights to ensure all headlights, taillights, parking lights, brake lights, and emergency flashers are clean and functioning properly to be clearly visible.

  2. Evaluate brake and tire conditions to ensure you have maximum steering and stopping power. Cooler weather can leave you with low tire pressure as the cooler temperatures condense the air in your tires.

  3. Fix scratches to prevent rusting.

  4. Have battery checked to make sure the battery is charged and terminals are clean and functioning.

  5. Check your heater and defroster to be sure both are functioning correctly.

  6. Inspect windshield wiper blades to ensure the rubber is flexible. Cracked or worn blades will not properly clear your windshield.

  7. Check your antifreeze levels because, as the weather gets colder, antifreeze becomes vital in regulating your engine’s temperature and ensuring it runs properly.
